For Law Enforcement

The H.E.R.O. Program was created by a team of Southern California law enforcement professionals with decades of experience in patrol, active shooter response, hostage negotiations, counterterrorism, investigations, and community policing.  Through their years of experience, our team recognized the need for evidence-based active shooter curriculum built on the foundations of sound tactical theory and law enforcement “best practices.” The H.E.R.O. Program is the result.

In response to the ever-increasing active shooter phenomenon, local law enforcement entities have instituted active shooter training sessions with their local schools.  While this training is can be effective, it can also frighten teachers, is limited in scope, not intended for younger students, and inconsistent from school to school. With rising crime rates and new threats to our domestic security, in some cases, law enforcement doesn’t have time to create and institute active shooter training programs for local schools. The H.E.R.O. Program was designed from the ground up to provide law enforcement with additional tools to assist in active shooter education.

The H.E.R.O. Program goes far beyond the traditional “lockdown” drill and teaches educators and students how law enforcement will respond during an active shooter incident.  Perhaps more importantly, the H.E.R.O. Program teaches students and educators how to interact with first responders in the event of a school shooting or other tragedy.

Our hope is the H.E.R.O. Program will create future generations of “safe thinkers,” who are situationally aware, socially responsible, prepared, and empowered to handle whatever challenges they face in the future.
